Anyone know of an accessible vocoder program for windows? For those who may not know, a vocoder is a piece of hardware or software that makes your voice sound like a robot or an alien when you talk or sing into a microphone.
Reaper is quite - though not fully - accessible", and it has a decent vocoder. I haven't used ita great deal, but it works. Reaper isn't free, but it's only $60 for an amazing, fully-functional Digital Audio Workstation. There is also a fully-functional trial that you can use as long as you need.
Gotcha. What's the website?
Just search Google for Reaper digital audio workstation and you'll find it quickly; can't recall the URL. Also you'll want the OSARA accessibility script which essentially makes JAWS/NVDA etc function. Just google that as well; it too is easy to find. First install Reaper, then Osara. After using Reaper for a while it will ask you to purchase the program. If you like it and can afford it, please do since it's very cheap. Otherwise you can click "still evaluating" after the countdown timer on said button is over. Usually takes thirty seconds or so. THen you can use it unlimited, fully functional until you close the program. Then just repeat the process the next time you open it. Make sure you also download the reaper Userguide PDF as well. It's got a navigatable table of contents so you can find any topic you need. I highly, highly recommend spending some time with it, or the reaper community/blog. Reaper's a beast, but it's got a great support network.
Thanks much. Will do.
is there an accessible vocoder for mac?
Try Garage Band. Never used it, but I'd be surprised if there wasn't one. Reaper is also on the Mac, and I'd like to think it's accessible, though I have not confirmed.
ok thanks
Yeah, I wanna sound like the Daleks.
You might need a bit more processing to do that.
